Ever feel like you need a little relief from all the less than promising news that seems to bombard us day in and day out?  I sure did. Had no idea it could come in less that six seconds but it did. Went down to Raceway Park with Condo Racing from right here in Monticello. Noah Condo has a Top Alcohol Dragster that he races at competition put on by the National Hot Rod Association. Ever hear thunder for four days and not get a drop of rain? We did! Surrounded by like minded folks there to compete for braggin rights and points toward a championship a small community of "True Gear Heads" appears. Drawn there by two 1/4 mile strips of asphalt and with their never give up attitudes they work 23 hours 59 minutes and 55 seconds for that other 5. The other five seconds they ride an earth bound rocket ship pulling several G's. Followed by the parachutes and several minus G's. Then pulled back to the pits to start it all over again. The catch is if they win they only get about an hour before their next run. If you have lost a little faith or just need a real pick me up, you owe it to yourself to show up at the next event. For a reasonable price you can stand in the pits and see how the "Big" rubber prepares to meet the short road. To watch a group of dedicated home grown White County Boys take something that explosive apart (I mean apart!) and put it back together in 60 minutes will leave you with no doubt when someone asks "Hoosier Daddy?"
