This is our Lectric Leopard. It has just arrived from the local junk yard. Tires my need a little air.
Yea that left front may need a patch.
What have we got our selves into?
The trans-Axle is in the bucket the motor and it are connected at this point going back together. About pinched my damned finger off getting the two into that bucket to replace the bad brush springs.
But I digress...
Here is where it all started. Recognize that Guy in the passengers seat?

This was my first time out. It was Leap year 2-29-2008. Got stuck for a while in the snow. But it ran.
Later in 2008 below. Front Batteries.
Winter in Indiana.
Below is our new Kelly Controller. It makes the car drive like a golf cart. Problem is it cost us about $500.00 and lasted 2000 miles. NOT GOOD! Thermal overload took a shit I think. Gonna buy a Curtis If we can save enough money. Kelly wants us to buy another one of theirs.......What do you think?
This Electricar was originally built in 1980. It has a Renault R-5 (Le Car) Chassis. It took me a year to rebuild. We have not done a paint job on it. Got about 3500 miles on the Batteries. Runs great and burns no air. Charges on 110 VAC. from the on board Charger. Takes about eight hours with the batteries down to the point indicated on the volt meter.
We can get about fifty miles on a charge a little farther if you know what your doing.
It runs on 48VDC. it takes 16 six volt Golf Cart type batteries. for the motor & one 12VDC. Battery to run the controls. The 12 volt batt. also runs the lights & wipers etc. Goes about 35 mph. in third gear. Runs faster in forth but you are burning more amps.
